Abstract

Street sexual harassment is a form of interaction that occurs in public spaces and involves a series of behaviors with sexual connotations, creating a hostile environment and generating psychological repercussions. These behaviors, which have historically been normalized, represent a form of sexual violence rooted in cultural gender constructs. Despite legal advances in some Latin American countries, such as the criminalization of sexual harassment, the problem persists in society, with alarming numbers of women who have experienced this type of violence. Efforts to eradicate this problem are necessary, but the struggle continues to achieve a more egalitarian and just society.
