Abstract

Metabolic syndrome (MS) is composed of a set of criteria such as arterial hypertension, abdominal obesity, increased triglycerides, decreased high density lipoprotein (HDL - C) and fasting hyperglycemia, and risk factors that are often found in people with cardiovascular, insulin resistance and obesity disorders. In this sense, there is great interest in the study of these risk factors and, consequently, the metabolic syndrome. Due to the increase in the rates of overweight / obesity with the consequent elevation of risk factors for cardiovascular disease, it is necessary to review these issues of primary care in order to verify the presence of metabolic syndrome in patients, to be able to detect them in time and correct them in a timely manner.
