Flat foot and its relationship with static and dynamic balance in schools of the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades of the primary level of the Coronel Bolognesi Educational Institution of Tacna in the year 2018

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between flatfoot and static and dynamic balance in schoolchildren of the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade of the primary level of the Coronel Bolognesi Educational Institution of Tacna in 2018.

Material and method: through a type study Observational, retrospective and transversal with 296 boys enrolled in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade of elementary school Colonel Bolognesi de Tacna in 2018. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Results: 23% and 22.6% have the diagnosis of left and right flat feet, respectively. According to the static equilibrium assessment on the right foot, 17.2% had a poor assessment. Only 10.8% and 4.7% had a good and excellent rating, respectively. Likewise, According to the assessment of the static balance in the left foot, 19.6% had a poor assessment; only 8.1% and 4.4% had a good and excellent assessment, respectively. According to the dynamic equilibrium valuation, 52% had an excellent valuation followed by 27.7% considered good.

Conclusions: There is no relationship according to type of foot (right or left) and dynamic balance impairment (p = 0.05). The alteration of the dynamic balance is not related to the presence of bilateral or unilateral damage.
