Dental age according to Nolla and Demirjian stays in children and adolescents between 14 years attended in the Dental Doctor's Clinic of the Private University of Tacna during the period 2016-2017

Objective: To compare the method of Nolla and Demirjian, to determine dental age in children and adolescents treated in the Dental Teaching Clinic of the Private University of Tacna during the period 2016-2017.
Material and Method: Observational, retrospective, cross-sectional and analytical study. All panoramic radiographs belonging to patients between 4-14 years old were compiled. A total of 80 panoramic radiographs were obtained. Its evaluation was based on the criteria proposed by doctors C. Nolla and A. Demirjian. The Anova test was performed to establish the relationship of the study variables.
Results: According to sex of the subjects studied was 35 men and 45 women. The average chronological age was 7.36. While the estimate made by Nolla was 6.79 and the estimate by the Demirjian method, it was 7.64. Comparing both means, the Demirjian method is closer than the one estimated by the Nolla method. According to the Demirjian method, the most frequently observed stages were D, F and G. According to Nolla's method, the stages mainly observed in the upper arch were 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0; and in the lower hemiarcade were 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0.
Conclusion: The estimation of age by radiographic evaluation determined that for the total sample, the Demirjian method was the most accurate. There is a relationship between chronological age and estimated dental age using the Nolla and Demirijian methods
