The purpose of this article is to examine how prior knowledge conditions the learning strategies used by students to achieve business skills, based on the constructivist theories of Ausubel, Piaget and Vygotsky. It is an exploratory research, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach. The study was carried out in a sample of 44 students of the IX cycle of the Professional School of Commercial Engineering of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Private University of Tacna. The survey technique was implemented and a questionnaire with Likert scale type questions was applied. As a result, it was obtained that the students in their learning process control their previous knowledge, regulating the modification of the mental scheme or model according to the interest they have in the course. It is concluded that students who are trained to be entrepreneurs develop a learning model regulated from the expectation they have about the contents that the teacher plans to take to the classroom for teaching. The achievement of business skills is based on the control of the previous knowledge that the students carry out to achieve their objectives, with 95% confidence.
